Allison Mortimer McCann is the Costume Studio Director of The Theatre Group at SBCC.
She originally started her theatre education here at SBCC and is excited to return
as a staff member. She has a B.A. in Drama with an emphasis on theatrical costume
design from San Francisco State University. Allison has worked with Oscar & Tony
winning Costume Designers and productions in professional costume shops on the west
coast and in the midwest including The Old Globe Theatre, Oregon Shakespeare Festival,
Berkeley Repertory Theatre and Actors Theatre of Louisville.
Allison is a San Francisco Bay Area native, proud Giants fan and fur mom to Walter
Dalter Cronkbite. Drawing from her experience in various costuming roles from assistant
to dresser and stitcher to draper, she enjoys educating students in the endless ways
of building real clothes for pretend people in make believe worlds. With The Beatles,
Dolly, Willie, or sometimes Metallica playing in the background, Allison runs the
costume studio with the belief that anything is possible, fixable, sewable or worst
case scenario, glueable.
